hi renee! it looks great on your mantle- just perfect! i actually think with the colors and the black paint it would transition well into fall. you could pop some of those white pumpkins up there with it, and maybe some scary things added for halloween. looks great!
as for the wine corks for wine and design, i don't know if it would work. i got super dirty cutting all the metal as it shoots little sparks while in use and the metal ends up all over your arms. when i ran them under the faucet there was an instant smell of metal- gross! i showered immediately when i was done. but i did see a cute idea somewhere where someone made wine cork trivets.... that might be more doable. :)
